Edeavour Space Shuttle

Picture it; September 19th 2012 after 12 noon and the news was giving a complete rundown where Endeavor the space shuttle would be traveling on it's final journey. Like most things on the television much of the time it's more background company that you catch the more important parts only. I heard "the shuttle is now passing over Disney Land," and my ears perked right up as I went to my balcony. I figured I could see from my second story in the distance the shuttle, even if it did look small like the size of the hot wheels cars stolen from me. Just being able from a distance to know and say "I saw it," no matter what size thrilled me.

This is why I equated it to the cliff hanger, as I was facing to the street after turning at first it was just a beautiful blue sky, then a couple seconds....bam there was the shuttle.

I have always liked those cliff hanger movies and ( Douglas Wickards "A Perfect Husband " ) making what happened next more amazing than it normally would have been.
Like in a movie where a person or people on a cliff then all the sudden a helicopter appears momentarily and scares them, in my case it startled me but it delighted me so much more. An awe inspiring moment in time just like that first time I watched it leave the earth.

I looked towards Disney seeing only a clear beautiful blue sky I pivoted to the right to turn around to go back into my apartment when bam there it was the shuttle so low I think I could have touched it. On the tail of the plane carrying the shuttle were the words NASA and until that moment I didn't know that it was NASSA's plane as well as the shuttle being theirs. A "ONCE IN A LIFE TIME"  and I got to experience it from start to finish. I also got a better view of it in that few short seconds then if I had gone somewhere to see it, I never had to leave my home.

I thought it would pass back through so my neighbor who now had joined me on the common patio went into our apartments to fetch camera's. We watched in the sky for it's return pass through to get a hopefully wonderful picture and we went down to the sidewalk for a while watching the sky and  then back to the patio. Our TVs still on with the news announcing I hear " Endeavor will be landing in a few minutes." I guess that picture will remain the one I have in my minds eye that I can share verbally or written form.

No matter, I didn't get the photo but so many were taken anyway and the incredible mental picture and experience will always be mine to own and along with the amazing way it made me feel inside my soul.
When things that wonderful happen in my life I usually take my pulse to make sure I am all right ha, ha because it's rare something this wonderful happens in my life.

The list is a limited list over a life time of amazing things that have taken place in my life and six would be my two children and four grand children for starters. Like most people I welcome events like this in fact beg for moments in time like this just to have the amazing feeling that it gives birth to.

What a name what an inspirational name, ENDEAVOR and it was so appropriate as the end of endeavour is DEVOUR and that is what ENDEAVOR DID SHE DEVOURED WITH DELIGHT GOING INTO SPACE and in the words of the wonderful Bob Hope "Thanks for the Memories."
